Importance of Companionship(Sohbat)

The Mubarak ‘Sohbat’(companionship) of Habibullah Huzur Pak Swallallahu 'Alaihi wa Sallam, Hazrat Sahaba-i-Kiram Rwadiallahu ‘Anhu have become so much respectful. Hazrat Waes-al-Korni Rahamatullahi ‘alaihi had broken his tooth down, left the world and acknowledged so much sacrifice and sufferings but still he did not get the level of respect of Hazrat Sahabi Rwadiallahu Ta’alaa ‘anhu as he did not attained the ‘Sohbat’ of Huzur-i-Pak Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam even for one single second. On the other hand, Hazrat Wahoshi Rwadiallahu Ta’alaa ‘anhu, even after making Hazrat Hamza Rwadiallahu Ta’aalaa ‘anhu Shaheed, He became Sahabi Rwadiallahu Ta’alaa ‘anhu and has become dignified.”

Companionship is such a thing that a good company makes a person good and a bad company makes a person bad. The dog of the ‘Ashabul-Kahaf’ will go to Jannat as it has obtained the ‘sohbot’ of Wali-Allah or Awliaa-i-Kiram.On the contrary, the son of Hazrat Noohu ‘alaihis Salam, in spite of being a son of a Nabi or Rasool, due to keeping company (Sohbot) of Kaafir got his Iman spoilt, lost the Nabuwat, lost Risalat and finally lost his Iman. That’s why the fact of ‘Sohbot’ is very sublet.

The significance of the ‘Sohbot’ that if anything could be achieved without ‘Sohbot’ then Allah Pak would have sent the ‘Quran Shareef only and nothing else. Allah Pak would have said, “You have been given the ‘Quran Shareef, figure out everything by studying this.” But Allah Ta’aala did not do that. First, Allah Pak sent Huzur Pak Sallallahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam and then Allah Pak sent the ‘Quran Shareef and Huzur Pak Sallalllahu ‘alaihi wa Sallam explained it how we have to materialize the ‘Quran Shareef through ‘Aamal. Now, those, who won’t understand this matter well, will never ever be able to differentiate between Haque and non-Haque.

So far all Imam-Mujtahid who came in the world, all of them have become so great Imam-Mujtahid only because they attained ‘Sohbot’ of Awliaa-i-Kiram. Those who did not get the ‘Sohbot’ of Awliaa-i-Kiram, have become Gomrah (depraved). For example, Mowdudi, Ibne Taimiya went out of track and people of their groups like Wahabi, Salafi- all of them are Gomrah (went astray). They have not obtained the ‘Sohbot’ of Wali-Allah, that’s why, they are out of right path (Gomrah) today.”

Good company can make a person good and bad company can make a person bad. True story that Sultan Mahmud asked in his royal council, “Can you tell me whether Nowshera is more Just or me?” As no one was giving any reply, after a long while, Sultan Mahmud himself started to answer,” I know, you won’t give the reply to this question. This is because of the reason that, if you answer,” Nowshera is more Just than me”, then I will behead you. As you eat from mine, wear from mine and live in my country, yet you speak against me- how it would sound!

And if I express my opinion, then you will get doubtful about me – as Nowshera is well-known as a Just person. Then, still the question remain, “how much Just (insafgar) am I? “

Everyone was silent in the Royal conference. Then Sultan Mahmud himself started to speak, “I am more Just. This is because, Nowshera has a prime minister named Bujroshe Mehen. This Bujroshe Mehen used to guide Nowshera, if Nowshera tried to move side to side then Bujoreshe Mehen used to make him straight.” “But”, Sultan Mahmud continued,” I myself want to remain on the straight path, yet, it is you who makes me sway. I have to remain straight with lots of efforts. There is no one to make me straight. So, I am more Righteous (Insafgar). Where as Bujroshe Mehen makes Nowshera straight. No one makes me straight. I remain straight with hardship, with lots of sufferings. You pull me to left and right, you misappropriate things, you set temptation here and there, even after all these, I remain upright. So, I am more Just(Insafgar).”

On the light of this Wakeya (true story), Sultan Mahmud had to suffer to do good works due to company of bad people. That means, bad company draws a person to bad works. On the other hand, the minister, being an honest person, stopped Nowshera from inclining towards bad works.
Impact of ‘Sohbot’ is similar to this wakeya. So, it is possible to be successful and become dignified only by performing Zikir-Fikir staying in the ‘Sohbot’ of Allah-Wala persons. That’s why, it is the responsibility and duty of everyone to obtain ‘Sohbot’ of Awaliaa-i-Kiram and perform Zikir-Fikir according to their directed Tari’qah.
